Mytheresa publishes “Positive Change Report”

Mytheresa on Tuesday released the “Mytheresa Positive Change Report”, the Aschheim-based luxury fashion retailer’s first environmental, social and governance (ESG) report.

According to the German online retailer, this is a “comprehensive resource highlighting all of the company’s sustainability efforts” and an overview of the “progress made towards Mytheresa’s ESG goals and commitments in fiscal year 2022, which ended on 30 March 2022. June 2022 ended” granted.

The main points of the report

The report is based on four key sustainability issues that the company announced earlier this year in relation to its own social responsibility. Mytheresa has set “concrete, ambitious and measurable goals” to be achieved by 2025. The first steps in this regard have now been presented, and the report distinguishes between 15 obligations. These are broken down into commitments that have already been met, initial progress, commitments that have not been met and those goals that are only to be met in the coming years.

“Our ESG vision is to positively impact our industry and planet by growing our business in a sustainable way. Sustainability is a journey and not an end state; it’s about practices, not just goals,” said Michael Klinger, Managing Director of Mytheresa. “The release of our first Mytheresa Positive Change Report is an important step towards these goals and provides a clear, transparent and candid analysis of our progress over the past financial year.”

The company met these goals

According to its own statements, six goals have been met so far, including the promise to refrain from using any kind of real fur by the end of the year at the latest. Since the end of June, the inventory of the online fashion retailer has only consisted of 0.03 percent exotic leather and real fur, by the end of the year this number is said to have dropped to 0 percent. The company also states that it is now ‘climate neutral’ by offsetting CO₂ emissions. According to the report, this applies to their own operations as well as to all shipments, returns and packaging.

In addition to promoting diversity within its own company, among other things through a committee for more inclusion and diversity, Mytheresa also highlights the cooperation with the second-hand specialist Vestiaire Collective as one of the most important steps of the financial year. Other goals achieved, however, are dedicated to data protection, cyber security and effective risk management within the company.

The “Mytheresa Positive Change Report” is to be published once a year in the future and will provide information on the progress of the luxury fashion retailer.
