Poppodium De Boerderij is a music venue with a large hall that can accommodate 750 visitors. There are concerts by artists from home and abroad almost every week. The pop café hosts small-scale performances and has practice rooms for musicians.
From youth meeting center to music venue
Poppodium De Boerderij was founded in the 1970s as a youth meeting center in an old farm at Voorweg 146. The farm from 1925-1935 belonged to agricultural worker and farmer Piet Bos and in 1970 it was empty.
Squatters saw the opportunity to squat in the building and hold disco and movie nights there. In 1975 the municipality recognized and subsidized the farm and it became a youth meeting center. There were disco evenings and concerts. Maybe you remember the old meet-me parties?

Time for a new building
Due to the growth of the city of Zoetermeer and the demand for more concerts, the need for larger accommodation also increased. That is why the municipality built a new building on Amerikaweg in the late 1990s. The old farm on the Voorweg was renovated and converted into houses. In 1998, Cultuurpodium De Boerderij opened on the Amerikaweg. The name De Boerderij remained the same and therefore comes from the old farm on the Voorweg. Mystery solved!
