After twelve years of implants, Johanna (41) now has ‘own’ breasts again: ‘Feeling is back’
At 29, Johanna Kok (41) made the rigorous decision to have her breasts removed. As a carrier of the BRCA1 gene, she had a sixty to eighty percent chance of developing an aggressive form of breast or ovarian cancer. For twelve years she walked around with silicone implants. “They had to get out, it didn’t feel right.” Now she is allowed to participate in a trial in which breasts are formed with the body’s own tissue. “After twelve years, the feeling is back!”
