Mustafa Muuse24, set a new Finnish record for the 10 kilometer road race in Lille, France.
Muuse pressed on with a time of 28:16, which placed him tenth in the race.
The Turku native’s preparation was not the best possible, as he suffered from the flu during the week.
– The male flu hit, but I still made it to the finish line, Muuse commented in SUL’s press release.
– The symptoms started on Tuesday, after which I reduced my training. Yesterday, Friday, I was able to run, and I made the decision to participate today in the morning of the race day. And it was a good decision.
The previous SE result was Tuomas Heikkilän in January in Valencia, Spain, 28.22.
Kenya won in Lille John Lomoni Aimun with a time of 27:13, and six other runners finished under 28 minutes.
Eemil Helander took 28:52 and finished 20th.
In the women’s competition Nina Chydenius was fifth with a time of 32:20. The fastest among women was from Kenya Brenda Jepchirchir (30.04).
