Musk wants one billion Twitter users

In his first conversation with Twitter employees, Elon Musk said he wants to grow the platform to one billion users. Twitter currently has 229 million users worldwide. During the conversation, which took place last Thursday, Musk did not say whether the deal will go ahead at all, after he himself questioned the acquisition a few weeks ago due to the number of bots on the platform.

Musk said he believes people should be able to say anything within the limits of the law, but posts with outrageous content will not be recommended by the platform’s algorithms. “We have to strike a balance between letting people say what they want and keeping the platform enjoyable or they simply won’t use it,” Musk said, according to an online report.

When asked about a reorganization, Musk said the company “needs to get healthy”. “Anyone who is obviously making a significant contribution has nothing to worry about,” he said.

The multi-billionaire was indicted last week: crypto investors accuse Musk that he had stoked interest in crypto currency Dogecoin in order to benefit himself. Musk used his large group of followers on Twitter – now 98 million – to promote Dogecoin, after which the price exploded. After the crypto crash, Dogecoin also collapsed.

The duped American investor, Keith Johnson, is demanding $258 billion in damages for this ‘pyramid scheme’.
