Musician from Jabbeke reaches millions of listeners on Spotify
“I always look for and find soothing in nature. I like walking, cycling, running, swimming. That is a source of inspiration for me. It calms me down, I put it in the music,” says Tom Kristiaan from Jabbeke.
“Little sons hum my music”
At the age of nine, the composer and pianist took his first steps in music, in the conservatory of Bruges. Besides piano he also plays the accordion. He describes his dreamy and soaring compositions as ‘neo-classical’. His first album ‘In Deep Woods’ was released in 2019.
“I actually started when my sons started humming my music. They always hum pop music and suddenly my creations were in between. And then I thought I must do something with it. Then I booked a studio with my savings and made my first CD .”
2.8 million streams
Tom’s albums, each with artistic covers, were recorded in Patrick Hamilton’s Globe studios in Loppem. On Spotify alone, the piano virtuoso from Stalhille has about half a million listeners per month. Topper is the song ‘Une sourire et une larme’, with more than 2.8 million streams.
“Spotify receives thousands of music streams every day. It’s fantastic that this is being picked up and that people are listening to my music from all over the world. extra income but I can’t live on it,” says Tom.
