Musical Marie-Antoinette in Wijnendale Castle colors West Flemish

The musical with 120 extras has a West Flemish color, with Liesbeth Roose from Tielt and Nooni Merchiers from De Haan in the leading roles. The choreographies are from ballet school Raymonda from Deerlijk.

Liesbeth Roose, actress: “We rehearsed for three weeks, and the last few days were really hectic to get everything done, quick changes with horses and carriages. It is also huge here. You have to get everywhere on time.”

For Linda Lepomme this is a comeback in a musical after 25 years. And Nooni Merchiers from De Haan plays Charlotte, a Parisian girl who is involved in the revolution. “I still can’t believe it, being told at the auditions: you will be Charlotte. I can’t put that into words. I am so very grateful.”

The Historalia organization hopes for around 20,000 visitors. Marie-Antoinette will play until Saturday, October 7.
