The musical Diary of a Sheepdog can be seen three weeks longer in the MECC in Maastricht. Due to the run on tickets, the musical, based on the television series from the 1970s, can now be seen until July 17.

The musical is a collaboration between producer Albert Verlinde and Toneelgroep Maastricht.

Satisfying
Servé Hermans of Toneelgroep Maastricht and Verlinde say in a response that they are grateful for the great interest. The premiere is on April 29. ‘You bet on two months in advance and hope that the public will come to Maastricht for the performance’, they write in a press statement.

Series
Diary of a Sheepdog was an immensely popular TV series that was broadcast in two seasons by the KRO between 1978 and 1980. The main character of the series was the young and naive chaplain Erik Odekerke, who assisted pastor Bonhomme. The story actually took place in the municipality of Geleen, but the recordings for the series were made in Eijsden. Against the backdrop of the typical Limburg village atmosphere and the ‘Rich Roman Life’, the chaplain experienced all kinds of adventures as the pastor’s help – hence the metaphor of ‘shepherd dog’.

Music
The leading roles in this unique musical are played by Angela Schijf, William Spaaij, Joes Brauers, Suzan Seegers, Nandi van Beurden and Anne-Mieke Ruyten. Servé Hermans is directing, André Breedland is responsible for the script and Ad van Dijk has written the music.
