Two people were caught picking mushrooms in the rural area of Oss on Wednesday. The pair had four large bags of mushrooms with them, amounting to a catch of 15 kilos. Wild picking on such a large scale is prohibited.
The mushrooms have been confiscated and the two pickers have been fined.
Large-scale wild picking prohibited
Staatsbosbeheer only allows wild picking on a small scale, for your own use and at your own risk. For mushrooms, Staatsbosbeheer uses a quantity of 250 grams as a starting point.
“Staatsbosbeheer considers large-scale and/or commercial picking as theft and/or damage to its grounds,” the organization writes on its website.
