Museum Kranenburgh dismisses director due to financial distress

In the current financial situation, the Bergen Museum Kranenburgh no longer finds it feasible to have a two-person management team. That is why artistic director Colin Huizing must resign from his position. General manager Adriana González Hulshof takes over his duties. The Supervisory Board wishes Huizing “good luck in taking the next steps in his career”.

The museum has had financial problems for some time, even though visitor numbers are good, writes media partner Dune Region Central. Increased personnel costs and the energy crisis are said to be the cause of the financial crisis. By dismissing one of the directors, the Council hopes for a ‘more stable financial basis for the future’.

Huizing has now left. His career at the museum was short-lived, he was officially appointed last July as artistic director. The Supervisory Board emphasizes that despite this major change, the current course will be continued. The rest of the staff and volunteers can also continue to work at the museum, according to the Supervisory Board.

The artistic director spoke in the NH program last May Culture Club still enthusiastic about the work ‘Guernica de la Ecologia’ by artist Claudy Jongstra:
