Museum Koers shows the rich history of Quick-step
There are unique interviews, top bikes and trophies on display that refer to the more than 800 UCI competitions the team has won.
The Quick-Step Cycling Team is a world team with mainly West Flemish roots. In 2002, team manager Patrick Lefevere and Frans De Cock – the former CEO of UNILIN – joined forces and the Quick-Step team was born. Dries De Zaeytijd, Koers Roeselare: “They had worked together in the past. But they hadn’t realized that their collaboration in 2002 would lead to such a success story. It was good between the two men from the beginning and it has remained that way until today.”
Among the permanent collection in Koers you can find jerseys, bicycles and photos that refer to the team’s successful story. And every bike has its story. You can see the bike with which Paulo Bettini won the Tour of Lombardy in 2006. “September 1 that year he becomes world champion and a week later his brother dies in a car accident. A few weeks later there is the Tour of Lombardy. He needs to be convinced to start. He wants to give up, bites through and wins. He dedicates the victory to his deceased brother.”
