Museum Eperon d’Or adds 4000th pair of shoes to collection
“The pair of shoes, pumps from the 1950s, were bought by the museum in Brussels,” says alderman of Museums Kurt Himpe (N-VA). which were sold in the Gilissen-Warnants store in Tongeren.”
Curator Gertjan Remmerie: “We are still trying to find out in which shoe factory they were made, but it is another example of Izegem’s fame in the field of shoemaking.”
The museum Eperon d’Or acquires collection pieces every year. “Not only donations, but also purchases ensure that the museum can supplement the collection and fill in gaps. By the way, this is done on the basis of established criteria,” explains Alderman Kurt Himp.
