Temperatures down to minus 1-3 degrees are expected for Muscovites on Wednesday, January 5, but by the end of the week, “Christmas frosts” will return to the capital. Tatiana Pozdnyakova, chief specialist of the Moscow meteorological office, told RBC about this.
“The period of moderately frosty weather will come to an end, it stayed with us for only a few days, the weather was unstable. And by the 5th, the next Atlantic cyclone is expected to emerge. In the warm sector of this vortex, warm and humid air from Western Europe will begin to flow to us. It will bring snow, possibly a blizzard, temperature rise in the daytime to minus 1-3 degrees. That is, the average temperature will be above normal, ”she said.
According to her, the warming will not last long (one or two days), and starting from January 8, “real Christmas frosts” will return to the capital.
Aleksandr Sinenkov, a leading specialist at the Phobos weather center, also told RBC that warming would begin on Wednesday. “On Wednesday afternoon we expect minus 3, and on Thursday afternoon the temperature will be close to thaw, from minus 1 to plus 1 degrees. At the same time, precipitation will take place in the form of rain from wet snow, “he said.
