In his madness, Sahat J. (39) stabbed his friend more than 50 times. The Syrian bled to death on the side of the road. Now the native Armenian has to answer to the Berlin district court.
The manslaughter trial started two and a half hours late on Tuesday afternoon. The accused could not initially be found under his name in the Moabit JVA, it said.
Sahat J. is temporarily housed here after his arrest on September 28 last year.
Just a few meters from his parked VW Golf, J. previously attacked his good friend Hozan al M. (31), according to the indictment. He stabbed the bus driver around 50 times with the kitchen knife and the 9.5 centimeter long blade.
