A 16-year-old boy from Steenbergen was demanded on Monday for one year in prison and youth detention. He is suspected of having stabbed 15-year-old Tim van der Steen together with his older brother.
The youth detention is initially for three years. The measure can be extended to a maximum of seven years, the judiciary reported Monday in the court in Middelburg according to Broadcasting Zeeland.
The substantive treatment of the 17-year-old brother, who also comes from Steenbergen, will follow on Tuesday.
Stabbed multiple times
At the beginning of January, the two brothers allegedly stabbed Tim van der Steen, a 15-year-old boy, several times in his hometown of Middelburg. The victim was found seriously injured and died three days later in hospital.
The brothers were not arrested until a few days later. The police immediately had the two in view, but could not arrest them earlier, because it was unclear where they were. They turned out to be staying in a house in Middelburg.
According to the Public Prosecution Service, the brothers killed the boy ‘premeditated’.
