Municipality recognizes Janny Hofstra as chairman of Nieuw-Buinen village hall

Janny Hofstra is the rightful chairman of the village hall in Nieuw-Buinen. The municipality of Borger-Odoorn has announced this in a message on the municipal website.

Board members and volunteers of the village hall have been rolling around the street for months. The conflict continues and because it is a complex case, councilor Ankie Huijing-Van Tongeren (CDA) has sought legal advice.

In the conflict, the judge ruled that the suspended chairman of the village hall could return and dismissed the treasurer. With that ruling came more clarity, but the peace around the village hall council has not yet returned. The reason for this is, among other things, differences of opinion about the terms of office of the various (former) board members, the municipality explains.

The alderman feels the urge to work towards a solution for the future. For example, until now there is a lack of clarity about the composition of the board. “It is very important to us who is the contact person at the village hall. That is why we first have to map out who our official discussion partners are,” said Huijing-Van Tongeren a month and a half ago.

For the time being, the municipality has not made any statements about that advice: “Sailing on an advice is always risky. The situation changes every day, so it is important to wait and see,” said a spokesperson in July. That waiting is now coming to an end. Hofstra is the chairman and so the future of the village hall lies in the hands of the village hall board under her leadership.
