Last year, an inspection round revealed defects at three bridges in the municipality of Westerveld. Brug ‘n Achterenkamp in Lheebroek was closed to traffic. Together with the Ministry of Defence, a temporary bridge was constructed over the Dwingeler Stroom.
Heavy traffic has been banned for the bridges Dieverseweg in Doldersum and Bosbouwkamp in Vledder.
In total, eight of the ten bridges examined in Westerveld now do not meet the legal requirements.
“Based on these results, it was decided to also structurally examine the last seven concrete bridges, despite the fact that no visual defects were found and these bridges have a different construction and year of construction,” the municipality said. “We expect the results of that study in January.”
When and how the bridges will be tackled is not yet known. The municipality is working on a plan to make the crossings safe again.
