Municipality of Laren closes shop after finding suspicious package

The municipality of Laren has temporarily closed the shop where a suspicious package was found on Friday morning. In the coming period, there will also be stricter supervision with visible and invisible measures, the municipality reports. It is not clear how long the case will remain closed.

In consultation with the police and the Public Prosecution Service (OM), Mayor Nanning Mol has decided to open the beauty salon in the building and where Friday morning a suspicious package was found, to close. For how long is not clear. During this period, there is also stricter supervision in the area, with both visible and invisible measures. It is also not clear what exactly they entail.

Mayor Mol says he is shocked by the find. “Of course, this also applies to local residents and other residents of Laren. I have spoken with the affected entrepreneur. We are also in contact with residents living near the building. I am grateful that the police, fire brigade and the Explosives Ordnance Disposal Service acted so resolutely.” so he says.

Startled

Laren was startled on Friday morning after a suspicious package was found at the beauty salon on the Brink. A large part of the Brink was cordoned off because of a possible explosion hazard and the police, ambulance and fire brigade were present. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service (EOD) safely detonated the suspicious package. Police are still investigating and would not comment further.
