Cosis has received good news after a working visit from the councilors of the municipality of Hoogeveen. Together they are launching an initiative to donate abandoned, still cycleable two-wheelers to the Cosis Bicycle Project. This project already works successfully with the police and enforcement and gives old bicycles a second life.
Ultimately, these bicycles end up with children from families with less financial means. This is done via Stichting Leergeld. In this way, Cosis not only helps its own clients, but also society.
From old bicycles to new opportunities
The municipality of Hoogeveen has responded enthusiastically to Cosis’ request and will transfer all usable bicycles after the mandatory storage period. A nice gesture that not only gives the Cosis Cycling Project a boost, but also directly contributes to the good work of Stichting Leergeld Hoogeveen. This foundation is committed to helping children from families who are struggling financially and ensures that they can also participate in sports, culture and education.
Johan van Duijn, supervisor of the Cosis Cycling Project: “It is so nice to have a few well-intentioned lines of communication with all kinds of people and organizations. We are very happy with that at the Bicycle Project, but our more than 200 customers per year are of course even more so.”
A great collaboration with the police and enforcement
The Cosis Bicycle Project has been working with the police and enforcement for some time. They provide old bicycles with a date label and collect them after six weeks. The bicycles then go into storage for three months, after which they are ready for a second life at Cosis. There, clients and supervisors take care of the bicycles and make them as good as new again.
Collaboration with an impact This is a great example of collaboration with an impact. Cosis and the municipality of Hoogeveen prove that simple gestures can bring about big changes.
