Municipality of Dijk en Waard comes to the rescue of comatose Donny van Iperen | Football

The 27-year-old former Telstar and Go Ahead Eagles player plays football for the Moldovan club FC Zimbru. He collided hard with the opponent’s goalkeeper on Saturday. Since then, he has been in a coma in a hospital in Chisinau. Relatives of Van Iperen have since traveled to Moldova and are trying to get him to the Netherlands, because the level of care is higher here. That has not been possible in recent days because the footballer is registered in Moldova and has no Dutch health insurance.

Van Iperen may travel to the Netherlands on Thursday. FC Zimbru director Sergiu Topor announced on Tuesday that the footballer’s health situation has not improved in recent days. “Doctors said on Sunday that his health was improving,” he said in a statement on social media. “That gave us hope, but unfortunately the situation has not improved since then. Donny’s condition is still bad.”

Van Iperen was born in Sint Pancras, a village located in the municipality of Dijk en Waard.
