Municipalities of Noord-Holland receive thousands of refugees: this is where they will sleep this winter

In North Holland, thousands of refugees and asylum seekers will be received in emergency locations this winter. This is apparent from a tour of NH Nieuws. Some of the people are accommodated in hotels, for example, but there are also locations where people sleep in tents or pavilions for the time being.

Thousands of refugees and asylum seekers are received in North Holland. Some of them stay in hotels, for example, while others sleep in tents or emergency pavilions. The people for whom this emergency shelter is intended have different residence status: some are refugees from Ukraine, others are status holders and some of the emergency shelter is intended for people who can no longer go to Ter Apel.

More permanent shelter later

The intention is for municipalities to provide more permanent housing facilities in the course of the winter. A number of municipalities are already taking a step towards this by, for example, making old office buildings suitable for reception.

Other shelters are intended for the short term. The photo above shows the pavilions that were built in To put away, where refugees have been received on a football field since last week. The emergency pavilions are expected to be demolished in December.

View below on the map where refugees are received in your area.

The information about the shelters has been collected from our own reporting, public information on municipal websites and by asking questions to municipalities.
