Today, Minister De Jonge announced that 13 municipalities and a partnership will receive financial support for housing projects that contribute to the acceleration of temporary housing. This is the first announcement in the context of the Flexible and Transformation Homes Incentive Scheme. A final publication of the awarded projects will follow in December.

25 percent of Incentive Scheme granted

Hengelo, Hoekse Waard, Houten, Lansingerland, Loon op Zand, Middelburg, Nijmegen, Ommen, Olst-Wijhe, ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Staphorst, Tilburg, Wijchen and Cooperation de Bevelanden receive a financial contribution. The amount allocated in this initial announcement is €22 million. This means that 1,865 flexible homes will be realized. The first homes must be delivered in 2023 and the total realization will take place in 2024 at the latest.

On 16 September, the Minister announced that the ceiling of €100 million has now been reached with the number of applications received for the Flexible and Transformation Homes Incentive Scheme. Registrations received since then will be placed on a waiting list.

Award procedure

The projects submitted by municipalities were assessed by the Temporary Housing Acceleration Taskforce against the conditions of the Incentive Scheme. The Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations decides whether the requested amount will be granted. The accelerated housing projects thus contribute to reducing the pressure on the asylum chain.

Government Gazette publication

The Flexible and Transformation Homes Incentive Scheme has been published in the Government Gazette including a list of the municipalities receiving a contribution.

The government is currently working on a financial and physical relocation guarantee that will help initiators cover various risks. In this way, there remains an incentive to realize flex and transformation homes.
