Dutch municipalities and trade unions have reached an agreement in principle on a new collective labor agreement for municipal employees, the Association of Dutch Municipalities (VNG) reports. In the run-up to this, there were weeks of strikes in various cities, including Emmen.
On February 9, employees of the field service in Emmen stopped working. This mainly involved staff who maintain green areas such as parks, public gardens, trees and verges. There were also strikes in cities such as Utrecht, The Hague, Amsterdam and Groningen, as a result of which, among other things, no household waste was collected.
