MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS | Colau files an appeal against the results of 28-M because he sees “errors”

Barcelona in Comú has finally filed an appeal against the results of the municipal elections last Sunday, considering that it is important to “clarify errors”. The definitive count of this Friday confirmed the second position for the PSC of Jaume Collboni and, in addition, he widened his distance in votes with Ada Colau. Therefore, this movement, which claims 150 votes from a table in Ciutat Vella, would not affect the positions. The resource does not affect, for the moment, the date of the inauguration of the new mayor, scheduled for June 17.

Precisely, it was the minutes of this polling station in Ciutat Vella that delayed the final count on Friday before the Zone Electoral Board. According to Barcelona en Comú, the certificate of your attorney he registered 150 votes as his, while in the one at the table they were granted to Ciutadans. According to the Comuns, Cs only got five votes at that table. The Board, however, did not consider it appropriate.

This discrepancy caused speculation that the Comuns would contest the result. They had 24 hours to do so, although they have finally opted for an appeal, which does not change the date of the investiture.

The investiture of June 17, remains

As it is not a challenge, the investiture date scheduled for Saturday June 17 is maintained, like the rest of the municipalities. However, if the appeal were dismissed, the Comuns could file appeals first before the JEC and then through the courts. If necessary, the investiture would be on July 7, just the day the electoral campaign of the general elections begins on July 23.
