One has to end “the mess” in the Catalonia governed by the ERC, but also in the cities where the Republicans are in command. This is the message that the leader of the PSC, Salvador Illafrom Lleida, one of the main municipalities that those of oriol junqueras they snatched from the socialists in 2019 after 40 years of government. For the head of the opposition, the Paeria has followed the same paths as the Government by Pere Aragoneswhom he accuses of not having the capacity to make decisions and of being installed in the “culture of complaint”. If there was a break with Junts in the Generalitat, in Lleida, it was with the Comuns, in addition to the unstable alliance with the post-convergents, with resignations included.
“To those who believe that things have not gone in the right direction either in Lleida or in Catalonia, give us their confidence. This cannot continue to be a mess,” snapped Illa, who has summarized her recipe for four points govern. The first, she has warned her, is have “leadership”which implies “take decisions”. In his opinion, the Government “goes around and around things and ends up dizzy without doing anything” in terms of infrastructure or to combat drought.
The second, he continued, the “respect for institutions”. And here he has once again charged against the inability of the independentistas to relieve Laura Borras of the presidency of the Parliament despite having been “convicted of corruption”, but also against the fines to municipalities who fail to comply with the restrictions due to water scarcity. On this issue, Junts, PSC and ERC already they reached an agreement two weeks ago, but in the campaign all the parties bring out their artillery.
The third ingredient, according to Illa, is to go from “confrontation” to “collaboration” between institutions. And the fourth, closely linked to the previous one, to work to “unite” and park the “divisive” proposals, in reference to the clarity agreement for an agreed referendum championed by the Republicans.
