Olympic participant Tyler Edtmayer from Lenggries secured third place in the skateboard final at the Munich Mash in the Olympic Park. Two Spaniards landed in front of it.
Danny Leon drove in a league of his own at the Munich Mash 2023. Already in the second run he was clearly better than the competition. In the third run, he broke the 90-point barrier and sat ten points ahead of the remaining five finalists.
One of them: local hero Tyler Edtmayer. The 22-year-old from Lenggries improved run by run and, after a fall in the first run, finished second with a strong second run. In the third run, the Olympian was well on the way to improving his rating again. However, a fall ten seconds before the end shattered hopes of first place. Instead, he slipped again. Shortly thereafter, Edtmayer was overtaken by favorite Jamie Mateu. The Spaniard fell in his first runs, but showed in the third run why not only BR expert Jonas Rosenbauer had seen him in first place before the competition.
T-shirt over his head: Mateu shows a spectacular insert
He had already impressed in qualifying, breaking the 90-point mark and then completing his final run with his t-shirt pulled over his head. Düsseldorf’s Lenni Janssen couldn’t go all the way to the front. His runs – all just under 70 points – were only enough for sixth place, the last in the final.
At the Munich Mash, the skaters get three runs to show their best performance. They fly through the course for 45 seconds, try to line up as many good tricks as possible and stand them correctly. Because every fall is punished by the judges with big deductions.
