Munich concert by Rammstein on New Year’s Eve canceled

Rammstein will not play in Munich on New Year’s Eve. The organizer Leutgeb has canceled the planned concert on the Theresienwiese.

The cancellation was preceded by numerous concerns about the security concept, which have been discussed intensively in the past few days – after the city council had already agreed. Up to 145,000 spectators could have attended the event.

As the “Süddeutsche Zeitung” reports, there was a video conference with the approval authorities in the morning, which led to the organizers coming to the conclusion that they might not be able to obtain approval.

Problems with safety and traffic cannot be ruled out

Approval from the district administration department of the city was still pending due to the short notice of the concert registration and in view of possible problems in ensuring safety and a smooth flow of traffic around the site.

The fact that the winter edition of the Tollwood Festival also ended on the Theresienwiese was also a reason for concerns about the safety of the visitors.
