Red Bull Munich is the last German club to be eliminated from the Champions Hockey League (CHL). The ice hockey champions lost the second leg of the round of 16 at Servette Geneva 1:3 (1:0, 0:1, 0:2); in the first duel, the Munich team had beaten the Swiss champions at home (3:2). Before the Red Bulls, ERC Ingolstadt and Adler Mannheim had already failed in the round of 16.
After the 2018/19 season, in which Munich lost in the final, the club also made it into the top eight teams in 2019/20 and 2021/22. The hoped-for fourth jump into the quarterfinals failed in the final third.
Patrick Hager gave former national coach Toni Söderholm’s team the lead eleven seconds before the end of the first third (20th), Teemu Hartikainen (36th) and Josh Jooris (48th) turned the game around, Tanner Richard (51st) scored the final score . Munich missed several chances in the final phase to force extra time with a goal.
