Multiple reports of ‘needle spiking’ in downtown catering establishments | NOW

Police have received a ‘handful’ of reports of needle-dried drugging in recent months. The incidents happened in restaurants in the city center. The police cannot say which occasions it is.

According to the police, much is still unclear about the reports. For example, according to the police, no additional offense was committed after the victims felt that they had been drugged. It is also no longer possible to determine whether the victims were indeed drugged and, if so, with what. The police are calling on victims to immediately go to a general practitioner if they suspect it.

The NOS published an interview last week with a 22-year-old woman who said she had been drugged with a needle. The police gave AT5/NH Amsterdam a blow about this, but can now confirm the multiple reports. According to the NOS two nineteen-year-old men and a 21-year-old woman also became victims in, among other things, an Amsterdam nightclub. That 21-year-old woman says she was robbed of her bank card and airpods.

The investigation into the charges is still ongoing. According to a police spokesperson, it appears to be difficult to trace suspects for the time being, because the reports are all about drug use in a crowd. It is also not clear how big the problem really is, because central registration is missing.
