‘Multiple evidence, including DNA traces, against Hoogeveen supermarket owner in murder case’

In the investigation into the violent death of 32-year-old Jihad Jafo from Enschede, the police detective team has collected ‘several evidence’ against Hamid S., the owner of a supermarket in Hoogeveen. Among the evidence are DNA traces, reports RTV East.

From the file Butterfly, as the detective team is codenamed, it turns out that Jafo was killed by gunfire. He was hit twice; once in the head and in his chest.

RTV Oost, which knows the investigation file, also reports that S. was quickly seen by the police as a person of interest. Initially, the owner of the halal supermarket in Hoogeveen shopping center De Weide was seen as a witness, but eventually the suspicions were so strong that it was decided to search S.’s house in Den Ham and his shop.

Hamid S. had not yet been arrested at that time and told RTV Oost that he was in ‘a lot of pain’ from the death of his good friend Jihad. And that he had even arranged the groceries for the birthday party on the day of Jihad’s disappearance.

But in the meantime, the forensic investigation in S.’s shop turned out to have come across a number of crucial clues. For example, the tripod of a fire hose had disappeared from the supermarket, while Jihad’s body had been weighted down with such a tripod when he was found dead.

Further forensic investigation shows that it is the same tripod. Denying that it concerns his tripod makes little sense for S. writes RTV Oost, because traces were found at the place where the tripod had been in the shop that matched exactly with the object with which Jihad’s body had been weighed down. “It was like a jigsaw puzzle, it was exactly right,” a source around the investigation told the broadcaster.

DNA of Hamid S. was also found at the crime scene in the shape of a hair. That hair was found in one of the buttons of the blanket, which contained Jihad’s corpse. In S.’s home, the police also came across a blanket of the same type in which Jihad’s corpse was wrapped. A rather rare blanket that was made in Germany.
