Rinus ‘VeeKay’ van Kalmthout will continue to race in the American IndyCar Series in the coming years. The 21-year-old racer from Hoofddorp has committed his future to Ed Carpenter Racing, the team for which he has been driving since his debut in IndyCar.
Van Kalmthout started his adventure in the IndyCar Series in 2020. In his debut year, he took pole position in Harvest GP qualifying, which also earned him a podium finish. In the end it was awarded ‘Rookie of the year’, for best newcomer.
He took his first win in 2021 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He has yet to win a race in the current season, but did take pole at the Birmingham circuit. There are still four races in the current year on the schedule for Van Kalmthout.
