Müller wants to extend the contract at Bayern Munich until 2025

Neu-Isenburg (dpa) – National soccer player Thomas Müller is aiming for a further contract extension by two years until summer 2025 at FC Bayern Munich.

The 32-year-old offensive player spoke for the first time in the DFB district about his future plans with the record champions and also in the national team. “I was thinking about playing football at the top level by 2025. My contract currently runs until 2023, so you have to see what we do there,” said Müller, who has spent his entire professional career in Munich .

By the way, Müller does not consider the open future for him and his long-time teammates Robert Lewandowski (33) and Manuel Neuer (35) to be problematic in the decisive phase of the season. “The players it affects are all experienced enough to deal with such a slightly open situation,” said Müller. The talks have already started.

“The club and we players are always in a certain exchange. We were already like that when it was said that there was no contact at all,” said Müller and then: “The only question is how intensive the contact is, whether you talk about the weather or about real contract content.” But he didn’t want to divulge too much. But: “There is a lot of respect for each other on both sides.”

No specific career end in mind

For him personally, it’s also about his role on the pitch and in the team: “I have certain expectations of myself. As long as I can tip the scales in certain situations at the top level, I definitely want to play football to play.”

Even with the DFB, the 110-time national player has no specific time in mind for the end of his career. At the end of the year, the 2014 world champion wants to play his fourth World Cup tournament in Qatar.

“As long as I can play a positive, decisive criterion and a national coach has the idea of nominating me, I will deal with it,” announced Müller: “As long as the criteria match, there is no general end for me.” But it is also clear to him that it is “very difficult” to catch the right time for the right career end in the national team.
