Müller Mobile: prices and conditions for mobile phone tariffs

The drugstore chain Müller is now also offering its own mobile phone tariff and is thus joining providers such as Aldi Talk and Lidl Connect. But what do the tariffs have to offer? TECHBOOK does the tariff check.

The new mobile phone brand is called Müller Mobile and sells its offers both on-line as well as in drugstores. Unlike Aldi Talk and Lidl Connect, however, the provider does not offer prepaid tariffs, but rather term contracts. However, these are designed for one month, which makes the offers flexible. But who is actually behind Müller Mobile and what tariffs can be booked at all?

Müller Mobile realizes its offers in the O2 network. Behind the new brand is not Telefónica itself, nor Drillisch or 1&1, but the telecommunications provider mobilcom-debitel. A total of three tariffs are available, all of which are marketed as postpaid products. This means that customers must enter their bank details when registering the SIM card, since the costs are billed by direct debit. The minimum contract period is one month, which makes it quite flexible to use. However, customers should note the notice period of one month after the end of the minimum term.

The tariffs offered by Müller Mobile are called “Tarif S”, “Tarif M” and “Tarif L”. Although they all come with an all-network flat rate and an SMS flat rate, they differ in the amount of data included and in the speed at which users can surf the Internet. The prices range between EUR 7.99 and EUR 19.99 per month. When you sign up, there are one-off connection costs of 9.99 euros.

Tariffs in detail

Tariff S is the smallest and cheapest offer from Müller Mobile. For EUR 7.99 per month, customers receive 4 GB of data volume in addition to the flat rates mentioned. The maximum surfing speed is 25 Mbit/s downstream and 11.2 Mbit/s upstream.

If you need more data volume, you can choose the M tariff with a total of 9 GB. The tariff costs 15.99 euros per month and also enables twice the internet speed. 50 Mbit/s downstream and 11.2 Mbit/s upstream are available here.

With a data volume of 20 GB, Tariff L is the most comprehensive offer from Müller Mobile. It costs EUR 19.99 a month and allows you to surf the Internet at up to 225 Mbit/s – the maximum speed for O2’s LTE network. However, this tariff is also throttled the most after the included data volume has been used up. While customers with the S or M tariff continue to surf at up to 64 kbit/s after throttling, customers with the L tariff are then significantly slower at just 32 kbit/s. All three offers are billed in customer-friendly 10-kB increments.

Be careful with the “free streaming or app subscription”

If you choose a tariff from Müller Mobile, you will also receive a streaming or app subscription for four months. You can choose from a total of five offers:

  • Readly – a magazine and newspaper subscription
  • Norton 360 – an antivirus software
  • waipu.tv – TV over the Internet
  • deezer – music streaming offer
  • Gymondo – fitness and nutrition app

As reported by Müller Mobile, the free phase for all five offers automatically ends after four months unless customers actively extend it. However, anyone who wants to do this should be careful, as Müller Mobile does not provide any information about the follow-up costs. So it is unclear whether there are special conditions for customers or whether the regular costs of the app and streaming providers apply. You should therefore find out exactly what costs are incurred for the services on the website of the respective provider before you extend the free phase.

Müller Mobile: Are the tariffs worth it?

All in all, the new tariffs from Müller Mobile are quite interesting. Especially if customers are not necessarily looking for a prepaid tariff. Compared to the prices from Aldi Talk, the offers from Müller Mobile are actually quite cheap. Aldi Talk markets its all-network flat rates with 3, 6 or 12 GB for EUR 7.99, EUR 12.99 and EUR 17.99 respectively. So you can see that Müller Mobile customers get more data for their money. But especially at Drillisch, there are often campaigns where customers receive similar tariffs at more favorable conditions, for example with the brands handyvertrag.de, winSIM or PremiumSIM. A comparative look is definitely worthwhile here before you strike at Müller Mobile.
