British luxury brand Mulberry is partnering with circular fashion marketplace Hurr to offer UK shoppers the opportunity to rent their bags for the first time.
The partnership is part of Mulberry’s ongoing sustainability strategy and complements the existing circular offering by offering UK customers a new, accessible way to wear the luxury brand. The Mulberry rental range at Hurr will include clutch, shoulder and crossbody styles in neutral tones and bright seasonal colors.
“We are excited to partner with leading rental platform Hurr, which represents another step in shifting our business to a regenerative and circular model,” said Mulberry Managing Director Thierry Andretta :inside another responsible and mindful way to experience Mulberry.”
Rental prices for the Mulberry pieces on Hurr start at around £95 for an Amberley clutch and go up to £195 for a Sadie bag for four days. To rent Mulberry’s bright pink statement Mini Alexa bag, customers must pay £146 for four days, which increases to £404 for a 20-day rental.
When Mulberry bags reach the end of their lifespan on Hurr, they are restored by the skilled craftsmen of the Mulberry Lifetime Service Center in one of its carbon neutral factories in Somerset, in line with the ‘Made to Last’ ethos. Once restored, the bag will then be available “as good as new” through the brand’s circular economy programme, the Mulberry Exchange, to ensure “every single Mulberry bag can have many lives”.
The new rental partnership will run alongside the Mulberry Exchange Services, which will allow customers to have their Mulberry bags authenticated, with the option to exchange their existing bag for credit towards a new purchase or a unique used bag. The exchange was first launched in UK stores in February 2020 and has since expanded to the US and mulberry.com. Mulberry continues to build on its circular approach, phasing out Digital IDs from Autumn 2022.
