The large-scale reorganization at Philips, in which thousands of jobs will disappear in the coming years, is accompanied by extensive musical chairs. In the Netherlands alone, three thousand employees will soon be given a different position. This leads to great uncertainty among employees, reports the Eindhovens Dagblad.
Although only the outlines of the reorganization are still known, it is now clear that the position of some three thousand employees at Philips will change. According to Suat Koetloe of trade union De Unie, there is a lot of unrest and it will ‘last until at least the end of next year’.
‘Anxious at the drawing board’
According to him, ‘at Philips they are all still passionately at the drawing board’. At the end of March and the beginning of April it will become clearer what the reorganization means for many people.
Philips would, according to the newspaper decentralize many functions. The various business units would be responsible from product development to sales. Product groups would do their own purchasing, which is currently still done from the head office. Philips Research, which is involved in the development of new products and functions, would also be largely relocated. At present, an important part of research and development is still centrally located around Eindhoven.
