Telstar did themselves a disservice by losing 1-0 to the amateurs of GVVV tonight and was therefore eliminated early from the cup tournament. Telstar attacker Zakaria Eddahchouri, much talked about this week, scored the opening goal just after halftime. “Those kinds of balls have to go in.”
“I got a good ball from Tim (van de Loo, ed.). I just tapped it over. Those kinds of balls have to go in,” Eddahchouri says after the match about his missed opportunity. “It was quiet in the dressing room afterwards. We all realize that we should be ashamed. We knew in advance that it would be difficult here and then you have to show character. We didn’t do that enough.”
“We were exposed by this team”
The striker, together with three other Telstar players, was national news last week. after the foursome did not want to play against TOP Oss in a rainbow shirt. Eddahchouri did not want to comment further on the events, but did say that he had not been inconvenienced by the noisy week. “It was a week like other weeks. I was able to prepare well. It is a pity that we were not able to win this match.”

Telstar coach Mike Snoei was disappointed, not for the first time this season, by his team’s missed opportunities. “Extremely disappointed. You know it’s going to storm here for a while, because they play very opportunistically. But of those two very big chances after the break, at least one has to be taken. We have been let down by this team,” said Snoei.
