The Story is a Sad One, Told Manyes: MTV has not been broadcasting what it has become famous for many years. The station is now using the upcoming 2025 edition of the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAS) for the first time in years to show over 700 classics of the music video again.
However, the clips from 01. to September 7th can only be seen on MTV2, MTV Live, MTV Classic and their Pluto Canal MTV Biggest Pop and not with the main station.
The music videos that have now emerged are divided into 12 categories, including as imaginative as “The Best of the 1980s”. There are also “videos that provide goosebumps at night” or clips with animals in the leading roles.
Britney Spears dominates MTV marathon
Anyone who hopes for scandals will of course also be served: Videos are offered “with sexy content” and also those that made headlines. In addition, there are also all clips to be seen that MTV launched the program on the day of the broadcast (August 1, 1981).
In a statement for “Billboard” The former music station also listed which musicians will most often be represented with music films at the nostalgia marathon. At the very front: Britney Spears (21), Beyoncé (18), Madonna (17), Eminem (15), Michael Jackson (12) and the backstreet Boys (11).
The offer is also rounded off with guest appearances by Chappell Roan, Olivia Rodrigo, Paris Hilton, Jon Bon Jovi, Benson Boone, Doja Cat, Teddy Swims, Johnny Knoxville and many others who talk about their favorite videos.
The MTV Video Music Awards will be awarded on September 7th (with us on Monday night). Sabrina Carpenter, Sombr and Busta Rhymes appear.
