It was the sixth time that MTV had staged the Europe Music Awards (EMAs for short) in Germany. This time, the PSD Bank Dome in Düsseldorf served as the backdrop for the musical spectacle, which this year was moderated by Rita Ora and Taika Waititi.
Harry Styles was the favorite with seven nominations, followed by Taylor Swift with six. Swift’s appearance that evening can be seen as the big (and only) surprise of the evening. Of course, she didn’t go empty-handed – Styles should have been rather disappointed.
