Congressman Minna Reijonen (ps) will arrive at Linna’s party again this year in a costume he made himself.
– When I became a Member of Parliament, I decided that when the invitation came, it would be nice to try, Reijonen says in an interview with Iltalehti.
Reijonen says that the sewing project dragged on for the very last few days. Reijonen lives in Kuopio, so the costume was worked on at weekends.

Last weekend, the sleeves were sewn into place. However, Reijonen was not worried about the rush. He was able to make the whole suit in three weekends.
A long-term hobby
Reijonen says that he has enjoyed sewing since he was young. She sewed herself, among other things, her cap outfit. Sometimes he has also made clothes for others. For example, the godchild has been given a party dress made by Reijonen.
– I have no formulas. I arrange and compose as I do. The model may also change a little along the way, Reijonen describes his sewing process.

Reijonen emphasizes that he is not a professional seamstress. It is a beloved hobby.
Reijonen estimates that the material cost of the suit was less than one hundred euros in total. The choice of fabric was decided by color.
Because of the price, however, she has not started sewing.
– It’s a nice hobby and a good balance for the MP’s work. It’s nice to revive old enthusiasm.

A long wait
Reijonen, a member of parliament for the second term, has represented Linna at parties in an outfit he made himself before. The fabrics for the 2022 suit had already been waiting in the closet for several years, because the traditional Linna celebrations were not organized for a couple of years due to the corona pandemic. The purple satin fabric was bought from a trip to Egypt.
– I thought that I would make curtains for the living room out of fabric if there were no parties, Reijonen laughs.
