MP Holman: FDF leader’s statements felt like a threat

Member of Parliament Harm Holman (NSC) has experienced allegations against him by FDF leader Mark van den Oever as threatening. The politician from Roden said this in the Radio Drenthe program Cassata.

Holman says he was not worried and did not have any sleepless nights. “But it did have an impact, that you as a person are involved. That’s not really fun.”

Van den Oever, leader of the Farmers Defense Force action group, said last week that Holman and outgoing Agriculture Minister Piet Adema ‘will be in the center of attention’ and that he ‘has developed a real hatred for them’. He made his statements while standing in front of burning pallets and car tires.

On talk show On 1 BBB leader Caroline van der Plas was asked whether that was not a veiled threat. She said she thought these were harsh words, but not so much of a threat. “Very harsh acts are also being committed against the farmers. The anger is enormous at the moment.”

According to Holman, this denial was partly the cause of the fuss. “She forgot to say one sentence. That she distances herself and it cannot be the case that a Member of Parliament is threatened.”
