MP Gündogan suspended for transgressive behavior | 1Limburg

Political party Volt has suspended Member of Parliament Nilüfer Gündogan following a number of reports ‘indicating transgressive behaviour’.

The party reports this on its website. Gündogan was born in Turkey and raised in Weert.

Suspended immediately
In a statement, the party says that the reports have been received in recent weeks. An external integrity agency has been engaged to investigate the reports. “Volt has now decided to immediately suspend the MP as a member of the Volt faction. This is to create a safe environment for those involved for the continuation of the investigation and to allow both parties to be heard.”

No contact
“This means, among other things, that she abstains from debates on behalf of the party, party and public appearances and campaign activities,” said the spokesperson for the group when asked what the suspension entails. “Furthermore, she will not have contact with employees within the party and representatives of the media on behalf of the party. She will also not be active on social media.”

The spokesperson does not want to say anything about the nature of the reports, and whether they come from the private or work environment. “Then I will say something substantive about the research.”

As far as is known, Gündogan has not yet responded to her suspension. The politician took a seat in the House of Representatives last year after Volt won three seats after the House of Representatives elections.
