Moving to Assen-Zuid is a monster job of a year for M&G Group

The northern M&G Group represents the largest operation in the company’s history. And it goes back to 1865. A new factory was built in Assen-Zuid for more than fifty million. And now follows the major relocation operation, in which eleven locations must come together under one roof. A year and a half has been set aside to transfer all heavy machinery to the new location.

“A monster job,” says commercial director August van Asselt of the M&G Group. The company, with around 400 employees, supplies ventilation and flue gas exhaust systems for all kinds of appliances and for roofs worldwide.

The new northern production location was completed at the end of last year at the new business park near Assen-Zuid, right next to the A28. From the highway, the huge box in the landscape cannot be missed, with 40,000 square meters of production space, warehouse, distribution center and office. But in a while the building should disappear more into the landscape, due to a greener appearance thanks to green plants along the facade.

The coming months will be about the big move. At the new location, large trucks with heavy equipment come and go, which ultimately have to complete all the different production lines in the large factory hall.

What makes the relocation operation even more complicated is that they want to continue operating as long as possible at all the old locations, spread over Groningen, Assen and Veendam. “We have to deliver, the customer must be able to continue to be served by us. We cannot just shut down everything for two months because we have to move. The market demands that we continue with our production,” says Van Asselt.
