Since Thursday, music fans all over the world have been in awe: The very last Beatles song is here! The voice of John Lennon, who was murdered in 1980, can be heard in “Now And Then” for four minutes and eight seconds – and all other members of the band also contributed to the creation of the song.

In a moving video about Creation of the song Fans have already learned how Lennon’s friends have been working on the song again and again since 1994, which is based on a demo recording from Lennon’s New York apartment.

As if John was singing next door

NOW there is also the official music video for the song: The clip for “Now And Then” celebrated its world premiere on Friday. Behind it is star director Peter Jackson (62), who also produced the documentary “Get Back” (2021) and helped the band significantly in extracting John Lennon’s voice from the demo tape and thus making it usable for the song.

The opportunity to finish the song only existed because John Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono gave the cassette to Paul McCartney (81) after Lennon’s death.

Speaking about the process of making “Now And Then,” McCartney said: “It was kind of magical making it. When we were in the studio, we had John’s voice in our ears. So you could imagine him just being in the next room, in a vocal booth or something.”

They would have worked with him again. “It was really nice, you know, because of course we hadn’t experienced that for a long time and then all of a sudden we were standing there working with the old Johnny,” McCartney said.
