FC Bayern can apparently imagine a winter transfer of attacker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting to Manchester United in the English Premier League.
Both the German record champions and the 34-year-old professional himself should be ready to talk in the event of an inquiry from the Red Devils, wrote “Bild” football director Christian Falk on Wednesday afternoon on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
But: According to the journalist, there is currently no request from Manchester for Choupo-Moting.
English media had previously reported that the veteran was on United’s list of candidates for the transfer period that started on January 1st. “The Athletic” wrote that the Munich player was a possible “low-budget solution” for England’s record champions.
If they leave in January, FC Bayern could still collect a mini-fee for Choupo-Moting, whose contract expires in the summer.
According to reporter Falk, a free transfer to Saudi Arabia next season is still an option for the Hamburg native.
FC Bayern: Thomas Müller also traded to Manchester United
Choupo-Moting came to FC Bayern in 2020 as a backup for then striker Robert Lewandowski. In the meantime, he was even promoted to number one in the Munich striker after the Pole left for FC Barcelona in the summer of 2022.
Since Harry Kane’s signing, Choupo-Moting has been a reservist again. However, he has still played 19 competitive games (three goals) in 2023/2024.
In addition to Choupo-Moting, “The Athletic” also named Thomas Müller as a candidate for United. However, just before Christmas, the original Munich native extended his contract on Säbener Straße for another year until June 30, 2025.
Timo Werner (RB Leipzig) and Serhou Guirassy (VfB Stuttgart) are also traded in Manchester.
Coach Erik ten Hag’s team is once again lagging far behind its expectations. The shoe pinches, especially on offense.
