Mourning register Raoul Servais: “Gentle man” to “Cherish artist”

Servais lived in Leffinge for a long time, but was born in Ostend. He passed away last Friday at the age of 94. Raoul Servais was the pioneer of animation film.

“Soft Man”

Bart Tommelein, mayor of Ostend: “He was a very gentle man, with an incredible kindness. But especially his work was very important. With his ‘sorcery’, as they said, with his films, with his work, he brought pride and pride to Ostend.”

François Van de Waeter: “I think you should continue to cherish every artist, because art never dies. And a man like that has more than left his mark on it.”

The mourning register is located in De Grote Post culture center where everyone can write a personal message. This is possible daily from 12 to 8 p.m., from 21 to 26 March.

Limited circle

The funeral service of Raoul Servais will take place in a limited family circle.
