Mourning for Wolfgang Fahrian (†): ex-national goalkeeper is dead

Sad news: Former goalkeeper Wolfgang Fahrian has died. Most recently, he was Kevin-Prince Boateng’s agent and was a goalkeeper for the German national team in the 1960s.

The former national soccer goalkeeper Wolfgang Fahrian is dead. As his former club Fortuna Cologne announced, the German regular goalkeeper of the 1962 World Cup died of pneumonia on Wednesday night.

In the 1st Bundesliga, Fahrian played for Hertha BSC, 1860 Munich and Cologne Fortuna. Further stations were Fortuna Düsseldorf and Ulm 1846. Between 1962 and 1964 he kept goal for the national team ten times.

“Deeply Dismayed”

“We are deeply saddened by the death of a true Fortuna legend and express our heartfelt condolences to all family members and friends of Wolfgang Fahrian,” wrote Fortuna Köln.

Fahrian played for the club from 1969 to 1976. After his active career, he worked as a player consultant for a long time. His clients included Jürgen Kohler, Kevin Kuranyi and Kevin-Prince Boateng.
