Lall for Gianluca Grignaniwho broke the news of his father’s death via social. The fans had “met” the parent not long ago, at the Sanremo festival, when Grignani had dedicated the song to him When you’re out of breath.

Gianluca Grignani at Sanremo 2023 with “When you miss your breath”: «An existentialist song»

Gianluca Grignani and the song dedicated to his father

The song in which he recounted the complicated relationship with the parent he hadn’t seen for 10 years was almost a premonition. «I threw it down instinctively – said Grignani at the time. I speak first as a father and then as a sonbut then I speak as someone who gives a solution when you realize that life takes your breath away. It happened to me when I was little, when my father told me that we must die.”

Farewell on social media

For the last farewell to his father, Grignani leafed through the album of memories and chose a photo from the past. A father-son portrait, in which the parent smiles as he places his hands on the shoulders of the very young Gianluca. The post is accompanied by a caption made up of a few words: «And for the rest everyone can judge for themselves…Hi dad».

The virtual hug of friends and followers

The reaction was immediate friends from the world of entertainment who rallied around the artist in this moment of pain: from Nek to Antonella Clerici to Laura Pausini. A virtual hug also came from many followers who underlined how the song presented in Sanremo was the singer’s last farewell to his father.

«Incredible how you wanted to bring a piece dedicated to him to Sanremo this year. Like I had an inkling. Through this song, you managed to tell him everything you’ve kept inside for 50 years” reads one comment. «You told him what you wanted in time…” another user commented. It’s still: “You wrote a poem to music of rare beauty for him. He had the time to listen to it and from up there he will be proud of you, I’m sure.”
