The Federal Court should have ruled today, but it postponed everything by 24 hours (at least): the proposal provides for an economic penalty
The Federal National Court will not rule today on the Mourinho-Chiffi case. The decision regarding the plea deal proposed by the Giallorossi club and the federal prosecutor’s office has been postponed until tomorrow morning. So the club and coach will have to wait (at least) another 24 hours to find out the outcome of the story, linked to the disrespectful phrases publicly addressed by the Special One to the Paduan whistle after Monza-Roma played last May 3rd.

Roma, referred by the prosecutor together with the coach for objective liability and the alleged violation of articles 4 and 23 of the Sports Justice Code, aimed at the ok to the plea bargain advanced on June 13: a proposal that would have provided for an economic sanction. However, the federal judge had judged the amount of the fine to be “inappropriate”, demanding greater clarity also on the charity to which the amount would be destined. Furthermore, the public prosecutor’s office allegedly initially demanded a public apology from Mourinho, a request which was later transformed into an agreement which provides for a passage in the FIGC press release which will follow the sentence in which the coach (who would not suffer any disqualification) acknowledges the impartiality of the arbitration system. The hearing had initially been postponed to the 22nd, but an imperative commitment by the lawyer Antonio Conte – who looks after the interests of the Giallorossi club – had caused it to be postponed further to 27 June. However, today’s date didn’t turn out to be the right one either. If there are no complications, the story should close tomorrow morning. Unless a new twist that would make the story take on the contours of a serial series.
