The citrusy soft drink Mountain Dew has disappeared from store shelves. Fortunately for fans of the drink, the product is by no means going away, but is being replaced by a sugar-free alternative.
– Our selection is changing more and more to meet the wishes of Finns. More and more people want to reduce added sugar in their diet and we respond to this, says Hartwall’s category marketing director Matias Mero.
Mountain Dew is a low-carbonated soft drink that contains caffeine. In the past, Mountain Dew has only been available sugar-free in six 0.33 liter cans. Now available are 0.5 and 1.5 liter sugar-free Mountain Dew.
However, sugary Mountain Dew will not be completely sold out. Sugary Mountain Dew is still available, but only in a smaller 0.33 liter can. It is no longer available in larger package sizes.

Sugary Mountain Dew is available in bottles until stores have sold out.
The brand also sells Mountain Dew Supernova in Finland, which is also a sugary soft drink. In the future, it will also be available in a smaller 0.33-liter can in addition to the half-liter bottle.
Other soft drink brands have also reacted to changing consumption habits. The Coca-Cola Company changed Sprite in 2020. Sugar is not used to sweeten the drink, but sugar, but there is already less of it in the drink than before.
A sugar-free soft drink is a drink from which sugar has been completely removed and replaced with alkaline sweeteners such as aspartame, saccharin or cyclamate. Although a sugar-free soft drink contains no calories at all, the sweeteners promote the absorption of sugar in the intestines.
