Moukoko shoots BVB against Union to victory – FC Bayern beats SC Freiburg

Bayern revenge in Freiburg

FC Bayern Munich has defended its lead in the Bundesliga ahead of Borussia Dortmund. The Munich team won 1-0 (1-0) at SC Freiburg on Saturday and took revenge for the cup defeat on Tuesday. Followers BVB managed to win again with a 2-1 (1-0) win over 1. FC Union Berlin after two defeats in competitive games. The Westphalians are still two points behind in second place, but have increased their lead over third-placed Union to five points.

Bayer Leverkusen are now clearly on course for the European Cup, continuing their winning streak with a 3-1 (2-0) win over Eintracht Frankfurt on matchday 27 and overtaking Hessen in the table. Equal on points is 1. FSV Mainz 05 in eighth place after beating Werder Bremen 2-2 (0-0). 1. FC Köln took a big step in the relegation battle with a 3-1 (2-1) win at FC Augsburg. The Rhinelanders overtook Augsburg and climbed to twelfth place.

Joker Moukoko meets: BVB shows heart and beats Union Berlin

Borussia Dortmund won the duel between Bayern’s pursuers against 1. FC Union Berlin and, after two hard defeats, created a spirit of optimism again. At the end of a bitter week of football with the defeat at the Bundesliga summit in Munich and the cup in Leipzig, coach Edin Terzic’s team deservedly defeated the “Iron” 2-1 (1-0). With a further two points behind, the Revierklub stays tuned to FC Bayern Munich. In addition, the significantly improved BVB distanced the third-placed Berliners to five points.

In front of 81,365 fans in Dortmund, Donyell Malen (28th minute) gave the hosts the lead on Saturday. In the meantime, Kevin Behrens equalized for the Berliners (61′), before Youssoufa Moukoko, who had just come on as a substitute, caused huge cheers in the stadium with his winning goal (79′). For the surprise team Union, the defeat four days after the 0-2 in the DFB Cup at Eintracht Frankfurt was the next disappointment.

Impressive comeback: Bayer Leverkusen pulls at Eintracht Frankfurt

Bayer Leverkusen continued their impressive comeback run under coach Xabi Alonso and outperformed Eintracht Frankfurt in a direct duel. The “Werkself” won 3-1 (2-0) against the Hessians and took their sixth place, which would entitle them to play in the Europa League at the end of the season. Bayer, who equaled the club record from 2002 with their seventh competitive win in a row, are the last Bundesliga side to meet Union Saint-Gilloise in the first leg of the quarter-finals. Eintracht as last year’s winner is the great role model here.

In a direct comparison, the French Amine Adli (10th minute) and Moussa Diaby (34th) shot out for the half-time lead after assisting the outstanding Florian Wirtz. Djibril Sow shortened (75′) before Sardar Azmoun made the decision (90’+5′). When Alonso took office after the eighth matchday, Bayer was eleven places behind Frankfurt in 17th place, six matchdays ago the gap was eleven points. But while the Hessians have only gotten three points without a win since then, Bayer have had 16 without a defeat. In the next game against Mönchengladbach, Frankfurt will also have to do without Mario Götze, who saw his fifth yellow card.

Thanks to de Ligt: Long-range shot brings FC Bayern victory at SC Freiburg

Four days after the end of the treble dream, FC Bayern managed an important victory in the title fight. When they met SC Freiburg again, the record champions showed a reaction to the 1-2 draw in the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup and won 1-0 (0-0) in Breisgau. Central defender Matthijs de Ligt scored the winning goal (51st minute) in a game in which Bayern struggled for long stretches.

In the table, Munich maintained the lead in front of Borussia Dortmund. Despite the setback, Freiburg are still on course for the European Cup. Coach Christian Streich’s team suffered their first defeat after seven unbeaten league games in a row.

Cologne descent stopped: 3:1 liberation at FC Augsburg

1. FC Köln has halted its fall in the direction of the relegation zone for the time being and, after six games without a win at FC Augsburg, achieved a liberating blow. The Rhinelanders defeated the Fuggerstadt team, who were unbeaten at home this year, 3-1 (2-1) and overtook FCA in the table. Ellyes Skhiri (7th), Eric Martel (16th) and Linton Maina (59th) scored the goals for Cologne in front of 30,660 fans. Ruben Vargas (29th) scored for the home side.

Since the relegation candidates Bochum and Stuttgart as well as Hoffenheim and Schalke meet in a direct duel on Sunday, the victory for Cologne in the fight for relegation was of great importance. As in previous years, the trembling Augsburgers are looking forward to a tricky final sprint of the season.

Despite a draw against Werder Bremen: Mainz 05 can continue to dream of Europe

1. FSV Mainz 05 has extended its winning streak to eight games without defeat and can continue to dream of Europe. The Rheinhessen had to be content with a 2:2 (0:0) against newly promoted Werder Bremen after a crazy final phase, but remain in the table bottom with 41 points in the race for an international starting place.

Ludovic Ajorque put the home side ahead in the 85th minute, which Jens Stage (87th) equalized. After Nelson Weiper’s 2-1 lead (90′ + 3′), Mainz looked like the winners, but Werder hit back again with striker Niclas Füllkrug (90′ + 5′).
